13th REAAA Conference in Korea
The 13th REAAA Conference was held in Incheon, Korea, from September 23 to 26, 2009. The Conference was organized by Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA), Korean Chapter, Korea Expressway Corporation, Incheon Tourism Association and Korea Road & Transportation Association (KRTA). The theme was “Future Road - Safer, Greener & Smarter” on road related fields.
There were special sessions and technical sessions.
Special Sessions were held about next themes.
- Incheon Bridge (to be opened to traffic in October, 2009)
- Design Value Engineering
- Smart Highway
Technical sessions were held on 12 themes with various topics like transportation, environment, bridge & structure, construction & maintenance, safety, pavement, tunnel, financing and so on. There were 298 technical papers submitted from 25 countries.
From HSBE, Mr. Sumitaka Kurino, a manager (R&D) of maintenance of long span bridges, participated in the Conference and made a presentation entitled “Preventive maintenance of suspender ropes on the Honshu-Shikoku suspension bridges”.
The Conference was held together with RIARC Meetings (World Road Association) and an exhibition called “ROTREX 2009” on road construction/maintenance industries.
