International Seminar on Concrete Bridges (PIARC) in China
The International Seminar on Concrete Bridges was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China from October 22 to 24, 2009. This seminar was organized by Ministry of Transport of China and PIARC Technical Committee D.3 of ‘Road Bridges’. This is a part of the PIARC Technical Committee D.3 work.
The seminar aims to exchange views and experiences regarding construction, assessment, management, maintenance and inspection of concrete bridges worldwide.
Approximately 200 researchers/engineers participated in the seminar from 14 countries. From Japan, 7 researchers/engineers took part in the seminar. From HSBE, Mr. Kazuo Endo, Sub-Leader of Wind and Earthquake Engineering Group, Long-span Bridge Engineering Center, gave a presentation on technical paper, titled “Maintenance for Concrete Structures in Honshu-Shikoku Bridge”.
In addition, the technical visit was held in two long-span bridge sites, the Runyang Yangtze River Bridge and the Sutong Yangtze River Bridge which is the world-longest cable stayed bridge.
