4th International Symposium on Lifetime Engineering of Civil Infrastructure in China

The 4th International Symposium on Lifetime Engineering of Civil Infrastructure was held in Changsha, Hunan Province, China, from October 26 to 28, 2009. This Symposium was organized by Central South University of Forestry and Technology, China. The 1st -3rd Symposiums had been held in Yamaguchi University, Japan.

The symposium focused on different aspects of lifetime engineering and provided us an excellent opportunity to establish fruitful international collaboration among the participants and their organizations, and to discuss the challenges we are facing with our ageing civil infrastructure.

Approximately 200 researchers/engineers participated in the seminar from 10 countries. From Japan, 2 researchers/engineers took part in the seminar. From HSBE, Mr. Kazuo Endo, Sub-Leader of Wind and Earthquake Engineering Group, Long-span Bridge Engineering Center, gave a presentation on technical paper, titled “Seismic Retrofit of Honshu-Shikoku Bridge”.
