HSBE held technical training “Bridge Maintenance” for Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
HSBE conducted a country focused technical training on “Bridge Maintenance” for Ethiopia, commissioned by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). HSBE made a training program, coordinated and conducted the training about for one month.
HSBE has dispatched four experts to Ethiopia since 1999, through JICA, as an advisor for bridge construction or bridge maintenance.
Two engineers of Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) attended the technical training. They are counterparts of the present JICA expert dispatched from HSBE. The training on bridge maintenance was held 14 October to 6 November, coordinated and conducted by HSBE.
In the training, various maintenance technologies developed for highway structures and long-span bridges were lectured to the trainees. Through technical visits to Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, Seto-Ohashi Bridges, Tatara Bridge, and so on, they were given inspection and repair technique for bridges, repair technique for concrete structures, and seismic retrofitting technology.
HSBE has been conducting country focused technical trainings like this program through JICA since 2007, as an international cooperation and contribution.
