November, 2009/HSBE

HSBE is conducting a country focused technical training on “Inspection, Repair and Quality Management for Roads and Bridges” for the Philippines, commissioned by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). HSBE made a training program, coordinated and is conducting the training about for one month.

HSBE has dispatched three experts to the Philippines since 2001, through JICA, as an advisor for bridge construction or bridge maintenance.

Two engineers of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) attend the technical training. They are counterparts of the present JICA expert dispatched from HSBE. The training is being held 16 November to 15 December, coordinated and conducted by HSBE

In the training, various maintenance technologies developed for highway structures and long-span bridges are lectured to the trainees. They also visit Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, the longest-span bridge in the world, Seto-Ohashi Bridges, Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridges, and so on. They are moreover given inspection and repair technique for highways and bridges, and seismic retrofitting technology.

HSBE has been conducting country focused technical trainings like this program through JICA since 2007, as an international cooperation and contribution.
