Taste Tokushima Chinese noodle soup

The characteristic of the noodle soup is to use pig bone based soup. The color of the soup is white or brown at a glance and the taste plain with a little salty-sweet. The ingredient of the soup is pork rib which is stewed sufficiently like Sukiyaki. Normally, raw egg is served in the soup.

Taste Handa noodle (Japanese vermicelli)

Tsurugi town (former name was Handa town), where Handa noodle is produced, is suitable for making noodles because cold wind blows from the mountains of Shikoku and the quality of the water in Yoshino River is very good. The characteristic of the noodle is its thickness and strength. It is believed that most persons can not forget it once they have it. Recently, there are some kinds of the noodles such as thin one, raw one and noodles including citrus powder etc.

Taste Iya buckwheat near Kazura Bridge

Iya buckwheat is made from pure water from Iya and buckwheat powder produced near here. Buckwheat powder is harvested in the narrow field around Iya River which is a branch of Yoshino River, flowing in the steep mountains in Shikoku. The characteristic of the noodle is that its length is shorter than that of normal noodle and to use buckwheat more. The noodle is cooked with soup which is made of the stock from small fish and leek. The noodle is easily cut because liaison is not enough.

Iya hot springs: staying overnight

Iya Ravine is called as one of three major secluded districts in Japan. Visitors can be relaxed by the gentle flowing of Iya River and the greenness of surrounding mountains. Furthermore, visitors can feel the greatness of the nature, seeing the beautiful scenery in a hot spring bath.

Visit Konpira Shrine: about two hours

The shrine is famous as the gods for prospering business, praying for large catching of fish, and the gods of sea. Also the many stone steps, 785 steps, to the main shrine are well known. Visitors can see Sanuki Plain from the main shrine.

Taste Sanuki Udon (noodle) around Zentsuji

It is said that Udon shows Sanuki. Sanuki Udon is much famous for one of Japanese noodles. The map of noodle shops is published by Kagawa Sightseeing Association. Please refer to it when you look for a shop.
