Kurashiki prospered during Edo Era as a direct control district of the government. At that time, merchant houses and warehouses with white walls were built along Kurashiki River with the colonnade of willow in the central area. Even if in small alley, the then buildings are restored and utilized as galleries, coffee shops, souvenir shops, etc.

Visit Ohara Museum of Art

Ohara Museum of Art was in public in 1930 to exhibit the collections of western arts, Egypt and Middle East arts, Chinese arts, etc. gathered by Mr. Ohara, who was a businessman of Kurashiki. The Museum is the first one in Japan that it has shown western arts and modern arts.

Visit Senkoji Temple

The garden of Senkoji Temple, which is located in the middle to the top of Mt. Senkoji, is selected as a cherry blossom attraction which is one of the most beautiful 100 spots in Japan. In autumn, appreciating chrysanthemum is held, and the smell of various chrysanthemums wafts around there. You can also enjoy the scene of Seto Inland Sea and the beauty of many islands from the top observatory of the mountain.

Visit Hirayama Ikuo Museum of Art

The Museum collects new works painted by Mr. Ikuo Hirayama who is an artist represent to present Japan. Furthermore, some sketches and paintings of the childhood era of his are exhibited in the Museum.

Visit Kosanji Temple

Kosanji Temple is a temple which belongs to Shin Buddhism, which was set up after the death of Kosan Wajoh's beloved mother. The tower of the main hall was restored considering the Buddhism architectural method and form of Asuka to Edo Eras.

Ohyamazumi Shrine

Ohyamazumi Shrine is called as Japanese distance tutelary deity. Mirror and pike which are treasuries of the god are hoarding in the main hall of the shrine. In the treasury house in the churchyard, about 80 % of weapons which are designated as the national treasures or the important cultural assets in Japan are exhibited.

Visit Kirou-Yama Observatory (evening)

The Altitude of Kirou-Yama Observatory is about 307.8 m. The Observatory is located in the south of Ohshima Island, and this is included in the national park of Seto Inland Sea. You can see and enjoy Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridges, the tidal current of Kurushima Strait, the illumination of the Bridges and the setting sun from the Observatory.
