Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge is a suspension bridge located between Kobe, Maiko and Awaji Island, Matsuho, whose total length is 3,911 m long. The center span length (between the towers) of the Bridge, which shows the degree of bridge scale, is 1,991 m. The height of the bridge tower is about 300 m high as well as that of Tokyo Tower (333 m high). The Bridge had been constructed in severe conditions such as high tidal current and deep strait by gathering bridge technologies. The Bridge formed a sister bridge alliance with Great Belt Bridge in Denmark which is the third longest suspension bridge in the world. |
