Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway

Crossing the two straits

The eastern route, Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway is about 89 kilometers long from Kobe in Honshu to Naruto in Shikoku.

The Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge crosses the Akashi Strait (width:4km) and the Ohnaruto Bridge crosses the Naruto Strait (width: 1.3km).

The Ohnaruto Bridge was opened to traffic in June 1985.

The Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, the world's longest suspension bridge, was put in service in April 1998.
