Innoshima Bridge which crosses Mekari Seto is connected Mukaishima Island with Innoshima Island. This Bridge was completed in 1983 as the first suspension bridge of the Honshu-Shikoku Bridges.
The center span length (770 m) of the Bridge was the longest one in Japan at that time.
Steel deck was firstly applied for long-span bridges in Japan and the experience has been made the best use of the construction of long-span bridges.
