A road crossing two straits
A route with a total length of 89.0 km that crosses the Akashi Strait from Maiko Beach scenic area, southward through Awajishima Island, crossing the Naruto Strait, famous for being a beauty spot and for its whirlpools. Of these, Ohnaruto Bridge opened in June 1985, and the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge was completed on April 5, 1998. The Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway, as a route directly connecting Shikoku with the Kansai Economic Area, has a great impact, such as revitalizing the economy.
