Important Points
1. Conditions for application of ETC vehicle tolls, etc.
- ETC tolls shall be applied when traveling using the wireless ETC system.
- ETC tolls, etc., will not be applied simply by coming in from the general lane and paying with an ETC card.
- Cash toll will be applied if wireless ETC was not used when passing though the toll gate due to a brokendown ETC in-vehicle unit or due to other customer circumstances.
- If you cannot use the ETC system at the entrance toll gate due to the closing of ETC lanes, construction or inspection, etc., ETC tolls, etc., can still be applied by notifying the staff of the exit toll gate. However, this is only for ETC equipped vehicles and when paying with an ETC card.
2. Confirmation of the application of ETC tolls, etc.
- Application of ETC tolls, etc., will be determined at the time the Honshu-Shikoku expressway entrance or exit toll gate (Including main route toll gate) is passed through. Therefore, if there is only a Honshu-Shikoku expressway toll gate at the exit, confirmation of whether the time requirements are satisfied will be determined only from the time of passing through the exit toll gate.
- When using the Nishiseto-Onomichi IC, the IC does not have toll gate, so ETC tolls, etc., will be determined only from the time of passing through the Mukaishima toll gate.
- Regardless of reasons such as traffic congestion and traffic regulation, the ETC tolls, etc., to be applied will be determined at the time of passing through a Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Expressway entrance or exit toll gate.
3. Confirmation of the application of ETC tolls, etc., when connecting from a NEXCO expressway
- When using the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway or Seto-Chuo Expressway directly from a NEXCO expressway (Sanyo Expressway or Takamatsu Expressway), there are no tollgates at the boundary between the NEXCO expressway and the Honshu-Shikoku expressway, and it is not possible to confirm the time that the Honshu-Shikoku expressway entrance toll gate is passed through. For this reason, the toll to be applied will be determined only at the time of passing through a HSBE exit toll gate.
- In the above case, the target time is extended by 1 hour, but the cheapest toll out of the ETC tolls, etc., within the extended time period is applied. (The Nishi-Seto Expressway is not contiguous with NEXCO expressways, so it is not subject to this measure. )
Application examples of ETC vehicle tolls, etc.
When entering from a NEXCO expressway on a weekday and passing through a Honshu-Shikoku expressway exit toll gate between 00:00 and 01:00 on a holiday
- ETC tolls (weekdays) will apply for medium, large and extra-large sized-vehicles, but ETC tolls (holidays) will apply after the extension time.
- ETC tolls (toll after application of holiday discount) will apply regardless of the time extended for regular vehicles and light motor vehicles, etc.
When entering from a NEXCO expressway on a holiday and passing through a Honshu-Shikoku expressway exit toll gate between 00:00 and 01:00 on a weekday
- ETC tolls (weekdays) will apply for medium, large and extra-large sized-vehicles regardless of the extension time.
- ETC tolls (toll after application of holiday discount) will apply for regular and light motor vehicles, but ETC tolls (weekday) will apply after the extension time.
4. Other important points
- Separate tolls will be charged for expressways not operated by Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Expressway, such as NEXCO expressways and Hanshin expressways.
- Please be aware that discounts applied by other road companies may have different discount application conditions and dates.
- When using a Honshu-Shikoku expressway directly from a NEXCO expressway, and you pass through a Honshu-Shikoku expressway exit toll gate between 00:00 and 01:00 going from a weekday to a holiday, or from a holiday to a weekday, the toll display and ETC in-vehicle unit's voice guide may display/announce the toll for the period between 00:00 and 01:00. Please be aware that when you are invoiced by the card company, the toll charges will reflect the travel conditions.
- In case of forced outflow due to a road closure, only if you reenter from the interchange that was the end point of the closed section within one hour traveling in the forward direction, it will be deemed that you have driven continuously through the traveled section, except for the closed section.
- The vehicle type classification depends on the expressway toll vehicle classifications publicly announced by the HSBE in accordance with the provisions of the Act on Special Measures concerning Road Construction and Improvement.
