Designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando as a symbol of ‘cultural recovery’ from the Great HANSHIN AWAJI EARTHQUAKE, this is one of the largest art museums in western Japan. It is located in a beautiful setting with views of the Rokko mountain range to the north and the Seto Inland Sea and Kobe Port to the south.

From Shin-Kobe Shinkansen Station,take tha Kobe City Subway to Sannomiya Station,and transfer to one of the trains or buses listed below.The museum is about 15 min. from the station by taxi.
By Car/Taxi
  • Get off the Hanshin Expressway (Route 3, Kobe Line) at the Maya Ramp, and turn west at the Maya Ramp South intersection.
  • From Route 2, turn south at the Iwayanakamachi-4 intersection.
  • Paid parking available underground.
